Driver CPC Training

What is Driver CPC?

Driver Certificate of Professional Competence is a qualification required by PCV and LGV drivers who drive professionally, which has been introduced to improve road safety across Europe.

All new and exisiting LGV and PCV drivers must complete 35 hours periodic training every 5 years in order to continue to be allowed to drive professionally.

Existing drivers are deemed to hold a Driver CPC by acquired rights, but must complete the 35 hours periodic training to continue to drive professionally after September 2013 (PCV drivers) and September 2014 (LGV drivers).

What is the purpose of Periodic training?

  • improves drivers' existing knowledge
  • updates drivers on changes to legislation
  • designed to make drivers more courteous toward other road users and to drive in a more fuel efficient manner
