Small Tree Felling

Level 2 Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm (Unit 203)

(**previously known as CS31)


This is a three day training course, followed by independent assessment on a fourth day. Each course can take up to 4 delegates. Candidates must have chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting (201/202) as a pre-requisite, although often training for these qualifications is undertaken together as a 5 day course, with assessment for both units following.

  • assessing individual trees for hazard
  • environmental considerations
  • standard felling cuts
  • specialist cuts for leaning trees
  • delimbing felled trees
  • cross-cutting felled trees
  • take down of hung up trees
  • understanding tension and compression in felled timber
